The results are in, but first I'd like to thank all of you for your votes, your feedback, and for shifting the burden from me, to well, none of us really, but more importantly, away from me. "Peace through shirking" might just be my new motto.
First Place - Zane Jarecke (age 11) with "Flying Hay". Not only did he make the picture, he also threw the hay and fed the horses. How's that for some good old school, photojournalist-like, multitasking!
Second Place - Yasmine Jarecke (age 13) with an untitled self-portrait. I think she had an unfair advantage with the quality of her subject matter, but hey, a win is a win.
Third Place - Surreal Grasshopper, by Zane Jarecke. What can I say? This is just weird. On reflection (laugh-track), there was a high level of weirdness running through all of the images submitted. I'm not sure where that comes from, but I'm pretty sure not from me.
There were also three honorable mentions...
Yasmine had two with "Horse's Backs", and "Kitten with Flowers (grrr).
Zane had one with "Roadside Bride".
Our prize money total... Zane $35 and Yasmine $25.
This was fun.
Thanks again, umm I think. You know, I've been writing this blog for about two years now and the amount of comments for this photo contest were about twice as much as anything else I've ever posted.
I think it might have something to do with the kitten in the flower pot.
